The 2026 SA Schools Rowing Championships took place at Roodeplaat Dam in Pretoria from 6–8 March. College crews produced an impressive set of results at the largest rowing event on the continent.

  • U14: The U14 squad put in a strong effort and narrowly missed qualifying for the finals in both the Octuple and Quadruple Sculls, representing College with pride.
  • U15:The U15 Quadruple Sculls missed out on the A Final by just 0.13 seconds. Ben Osler and Robert Hoole, fresh off a Bronze Medal at the GSRF Regatta the previous weekend, qualified for the A Final of the Double Sculls and finished an excellent 5th overall.
  • U16:The U16 Pair finished 5th overall, while the U16 Coxless Four placed 4th, missing a Bronze Medal by just 0.46 seconds.
  • The U16A Coxed Four — Carter Peinke, Oliver Kruuse, Thomas Teeling-Smith, Jack Wheatley and Eric Wallis — delivered a superb race to secure 3rd place and the Bronze Medal.
  • The U16A Eight also produced a strong performance, finishing 4th overall.

Opens:

The 1st Coxless Four placed 6th in the A Final.

  • The 1st Coxed Four — Rafael Carrara, Christopher Jarvis, James Jarvis, Jaryd Mattison and Callum McMurray rowed an outstanding race to hold off a late challenge from St Stithians’ College and secure the Gold Medal, making St Andrew’s College national champions for the first time since 2020.
  • The 1st Eight race was a thrilling contest. College produced their best performance of the season and held Silver Medal position late in the race before a late surge from KES and St John’s College pushed them into 4th place, with the three boats finishing within one second of each other.

A huge thank you to the coaching staff, teachers, housemasters, support staff and the wider College community for their dedication and support throughout the season.
