Standerton, Piet Retief, Volksrust High School, Pionier Vryheid, and Ferrum all fielded strong contingents, each eager to make their mark in various disciplines. Among the standout performers were Sabatha Twala, Xian Meyer, and Matthew MacDonald, who left an indelible mark on the competition. In a display of sheer endurance and determination, Sabatha Twala of Volksrust High School clinched the title of “Best Long Distance” in the 3000 m Boys 17 years category. His performance was a testament to his unwavering dedication and training regimen. Xian Meyer emerged as a force to be reckoned with, dominating the hurdles with finesse. His victory in the 100 m Boys 15 years hurdles event showcased not only his speed but also his impeccable technique, earning him the title of “Best Hurdles” and the coveted Junior Victor Ludorum award. Meanwhile, Matthew MacDonald showcased his prowess in the throwing events, particularly excelling in the Discus Boys 19 years category. His remarkable strength and precision propelled him to victory, earning him the title of “Best Throws” and the prestigious Senior Victor Ludorum award. The highlight of the day undoubtedly belonged to Xian Meyer, whose exceptional performance was hailed as the “Best Achievement of the Day.” Meyer’s dominance on the track was further underscored by his setting of a new track record in the 100 m hurdles Boys 15 years category, clocking an impressive 13.50 seconds. Additionally, Kheto Thwala joined the record books by setting a new record in the 110 m Boys 19 years hurdles, crossing the line in 14.80 seconds.
