Glenashley Prep’s Green Team prepared the ground alongside their school driveway last term, where they placed cardboard and branches to kill the grass and create homes for insects. The Green Team spent their Friday afternoon planting indigenous shrubs and plants that they had generously donated to the school. It was evident that their project had been successful so far, as the cardboard had degraded so it could be mixed into the soil, and lots of insects and worms were found to have made their homes in the cardboard layers. Further planting of the area will take place, creating a green belt in what was previously a sterile area.
