A wave of pride is sweeping through Curro Soshanguve as the Under-19 boys’ football team makes history by becoming the first and only Curro school to qualify for the Curro Halala Cup National Knockout Stage. This prestigious tournament brings together the top 16 school football teams in South Africa, all competing for national glory and a grand prize of R100,000.
The team’s path to this incredible achievement was anything but easy. In the first round, the boys held their nerve during a tense penalty shootout to defeat Curro Pretoria. They followed up this dramatic win with a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Curro Thatchfield, securing their place in the national top 16.
Now representing not only their school but the entire Curro network, Curro Soshanguve stands proudly as the sole Curro school remaining in the tournament, alongside just one other from the extended network Meridian. Their success in the Curro Halala Cup is a reflection of exceptional talent, relentless determination, and the unwavering support from coaches, parents, and the school community.
At the heart of this triumph is Coach Austen, whose experience, leadership, strategic insight, and belief in his players have been instrumental in the team’s journey.
