A wave of pride is sweeping through Curro Soshanguve as the Under-19 boys’ football team makes history by becoming the first and only Curro school to qualify for the Curro Halala Cup National Knockout Stage. This prestigious tournament brings together the top 16 school football teams in South Africa, all competing for national glory and a grand prize of R100,000.

The team’s path to this incredible achievement was anything but easy. In the first round, the boys held their nerve during a tense penalty shootout to defeat Curro Pretoria. They followed up this dramatic win with a hard-fought 3–2 victory over Curro Thatchfield, securing their place in the national top 16.

Now representing not only their school but the entire Curro network, Curro Soshanguve stands proudly as the sole Curro school remaining in the tournament, alongside just one other from the extended network Meridian. Their success in the Curro Halala Cup is a reflection of exceptional talent, relentless determination, and the unwavering support from coaches, parents, and the school community.

At the heart of this triumph is Coach Austen, whose experience, leadership, strategic insight, and belief in his players have been instrumental in the team’s journey. Known for his calm presence on the touchline and his dedication off the pitch, Coach Austen has been a driving force, pushing the team to rise to every challenge with discipline and heart.

“This moment means everything,” said Coach Austen. “It’s about more than football—it’s about proving what’s possible when discipline, teamwork, and opportunity come together. I’m incredibly proud of what these boys have achieved and their experience as well.”

As the national stage of the Curro Halala Cup approaches, all eyes are on the Curro Soshanguve U.19 boys. The entire school community stands united behind them, inspired by their grit, unity, and belief.

We invite everyone to celebrate this remarkable achievement and to rally behind the boys as they continue their journey towards national success. Their story is already one for the history book Well done, Curro Soshanguve U.19 you’ve made us all incredibly proud!
