The Grade 4 – 6 learners  from Cannons Creek Independent School recently enjoyed a few days at the SOS camp in Villiersdorp doing all the things that are so good for children to do. There was day and night hiking, fire making, feeding animals, obstacle courses, team building games, mapwork, learning about weather stations, canoeing and swimming. They enjoyed excellent food and facilities. “We are proud of all our pupils for making this such a positive and bonding experience. Thanks to the teachers for being the stand-in parents and dispensing meds, cuddles, encouragement and guidance at Camp.” – Mrs Sue Alston, HOD: Intermediate Phase

Some comments from the learners:

  • “Honestly, the best part of Camp was all the fun activities we got to do and how nicely they treated us.” – Thaakir Parker, Grade 4
  • “My favourite part about camp was the obstacles and just spending time with my friends.” – Amy Hoflinger, Grade 5
  • “The best part of Camp was probably the food.” – Shaughan Gay, Grade 4
  • “The experience that I had was so much fun, especially with the animals there. We had so many obstacles to do, so many challenges and it was so nice having a group and having fun with new people.” – Aran Bosch, Grade 6
  • “I really enjoyed my experience. I wasn’t expecting it to be this amazing. I enjoyed it. I loved all the activities, the fire building, and the team building. I got to bond with people I rarely ever talk to on my team and that was really nice for me.” – Manuel Marjawar, Grade 6
  • “My favourite part was the nighttime hike because it was very fun but also very scary.” – Kaboentle Mathe, Grade 5
  • “It was a fun experience and we got to do a lot of stuff. We made bonfires, and bread rolls with some honey and I really enjoyed it.”  – Rebekah Lambrechts, Grade 4
