Shelanti Private School grade 4 learners delved into the fascinating realm of “Parts of a Plant” this week through a word association game. The challenge involved connecting keywords with their corresponding plant parts and functions. Taking the learning experience beyond the classroom, we ventured outdoors to explore and identify these plant components in their natural environment. This hands-on approach not only reinforced theoretical knowledge but also allowed our learners to put their understanding into practice.

Our grade 2 learners skillfully applied their Approach to Task skills in undertaking this project. The initial phase involved meticulous planning and sketching of their designs—an essential step where they honed their abilities in planning, analyzing, and visualizing to craft their unique creations. These brilliant young minds have now transitioned to the creative phase of the project, and we eagerly anticipate the unveiling of their imaginative works.

The Grade 1’s explored gears and how they work. They made a gear train which showed them the difference between a “driver gear” and a “follower gear”. They were very curious about how and why this happens. This lesson will lead into teaching them about gearing up and gearing down.
