St Andrew’s College will be participating in the South African Schools Rowing Championships

St Andrew’s College will be participating in the South African Schools Rowing Championships which begins tomorrow on Friday 1 March 2024.

Over the half-term break, the St Andrew’s College rowers traveled up to Roodeplaat Dam outside Pretoria to prepare for the South African Schools Rowing Championships which begin on Friday 1 March.

As part of the preparations, rowers from the Open, U16, and U15 age groups competed at the Jeppe Regatta over the past weekend. It proved to be a hugely beneficial day of competition for boys to acclimatise to the venue and the Gauteng heat! The following results were achieved:

Opens:

1st VIII – 1st place

Max Estcourt – 1st place

1st 2- (Kroon and Moorcroft) 2nd place

U16’s

U16 VIII – 1st place

U16 4+ 1st place

U16 4- 3rd place

U16 2- (Fletcher and Theron) 3rd place

U15’s

U15 2x (Carrara and Estcourt) 7th place

U15 1x (Carrara) 8th place

In the days following the regatta, the rowers have continued to make great progress on the water, whilst enjoying spectacular weather and all the benefits of training at an international standard rowing facility. The U14 squad also joined the group at the end of the half-term break and are excited to compete at their first national regatta.
