It is with pride that we once again celebrate a beautiful “Heart Gala” hosted by Swellendam High School. This year we had over 100 individual entries  a wonderful turnout. The event celebrates the heart of swimming: community, camaraderie, health, and a shared love for the sport, no matter the stage or level of swimming.

It was wonderful to see the developmental team from Worcester Gimnasium hold their own, the dedicatedswimmers from Bonnievale take part despite having only two swimmers, and the impressive number of competitors from HTS Drostdy. We were also delighted to welcome our faraway friends from Charlie Hofmeyr High School who made the trip, as well as our returning friends from De Villiers Graaff High School, Robertson, and Hermanus High School. Our own Swellies did not disappoint, showing great spirit and tenacity.

We congratulate HTS Drostdy, who took the trophy this year, with Swellendam High in second place and Charlie Hofmeyr High School finishing third. All the schools were truly entertaining to watch on a day that celebrated a wonderful sport.

To all the officials we extend a sincere thank you, as well as to Kurt van Wyk for the delicious catering and Ellenore Gerber for her professional photography. We look forward to continuing this spirit of friendship through sport as we anticipate another heartfelt gala next year.
