With the recent establishment of our Umphakathi Centre, five of our keenest readers from Grade 8 are participating in a wonderful initiative created to promote explorative reading in teens. Over the last two months, Samuel Acres, Raeesa Bux, Maya Cross, Karen Kyandi and Sophie Stuart have been representing De La Salle Holy Cross College in the 2022 Mobi-Readathon, competing against several other secondary schools in the area including Greenside High and Northcliff High.

Our learners were each equipped with a tablet-style E-reader and have been given five books to read as a group. The learners are tasked with analysing each text and producing book reviews which highlight their knowledge of the plot and show their personal experience of each novel. The College is incredibly proud of these five learners for embarking on this literary journey and for developing the culture of reading within our school.
