Crawford International La Lucia held the opening of the PYPX (Primary Years Programme Exhibition) on the evening of Thursday 22 August, where Grade 7 parents were invited to attend this special moment. The exhibition unit takes place under any transdisciplinary theme at the discretion of the school. This year, we decided to stretch the creative minds of our Grade 7’s by giving them agency as to which Transdisciplinary Theme they would choose to drive their inquiries and to use the Sustainable Development Goals as the underlying golden thread running through each of their units.

The TD Themes our Grade 7’s chose were as follows:

  • Who We Are
  • Where We Are in Place and Time
  • How We Express Ourselves
  • How We Organise Ourselves
  • Sharing the Planet

Our Grade 7’s established their Central Idea, discussed which Key Concepts would underpin their inquiry and thoughtfully created their lines of inquiry based on these concepts. They decided on which skills would be necessary for them to achieve the success they so fully deserve. They had to take initiative, troubleshoot, think out the box, be risk takers and open-minded, and constantly reflect on their learning. It was a very successful exhibition, and we are very proud of our students!
