Wynberg Girls’ High School Informal Valedictory Ceremony: Following the Leadership Induction Ceremony, the Class of 2025 marked their second-to-last day of school by spending the morning having their personally decorated school shirts signed by friends and teachers, capturing memories of their time at WGHS.
The afternoon Informal Valedictory Ceremony in the hall featured a heartfelt speech from the Head of School, Jannah Hossain, who reflected on the journey of the matrics from their Grade 8 beginnings to the resilient, empathetic young adults they have become, highlighting the legacy of friendship, community, and growth they leave behind. Lively performances by teachers and Grade 11s, who sang popular songs with adapted lyrics to bid farewell, added to the celebrations, and the matrics also shared their own musical tributes to the school. The day was filled with laughter, nostalgia, and gratitude, providing a joyful and emotional farewell before the matrics’ final day of school.
Matric Prize-Giving: On 17 October 2025, WGHS held its annual Matric Prize-Giving, celebrating the achievements of the Class of 2025. The ceremony recognised excellence across academics, sports, cultural pursuits, service, and leadership, honouring all matric learners who distinguished themselves over the past year. Awards were presented in recognition of dedication, effort, and outstanding contributions to the life of the school. Guest speaker, Prof. Dr Waheeda Amien, encouraged the matrics to value kindness, humility, and the positive impact they can have on others, emphasising that true success lies not only in achievements but in the lives they touch and the relationships they build.
Formal Valedictory Ceremony: On the same morning as the Matric Prize-Giving, and following a celebratory tea with matrics and their parents or guardians, the Class of 2025 marked their final school day before beginning their NSC examinations with the Formal Valedictory Ceremony. Heartfelt and reflective speeches from Head of School, Jannah Hossain, and RCL Chairperson, Janaan Stegmann, had the entire hall alternating between laughter and tears, as they celebrated the achievements, memories, and enduring bonds of the Class of 2025.
