St Dominics Newcastle is extremely proud to announce that two more learners in the High School received Kryptonite awards for CAS 2022. This brings the total to an amazing nine Kryptonite awards in the High School for 2022!

The learners are:

  • Olwethu Ximba from Grade 12 – IsiZulu monologue (Act it – Performance item)
  • Scarlett Uys from Grade 9 -Afrikaans Poem (Write it – Submission Item).

Congratulations, young ladies – you have brought honour to yourselves, your families and your school. This is Scarlett’s second Kryptonite award for this year.

And our crowning glory…

The Curro Create programme for 2022 culminated in the highest accolade, with two of our Kryptonite awardees being chosen to participate in a National Concert in Cape Town from July 20 to 24, 2022. According to Head of Culture for the High School, Pragashini Dhewlall, only the best of all the Kryptonite awardees in the country are invited to participate in this concert. “It is really a feather in our caps to have two of our learners selected,” she said.

The super-talented learners are Olwethu Ximba in Grade 12, who received a Kryptonite award for her IsiZulu monologue, and Senate Lekholoane in Grade 11, who received a Kryptonite award for her English monologue. “We are extremely proud of our young ladies who will be representing St Dominics Newcastle and its Culture Department on, literally, such a big stage.”

Mrs Dhewlall took the opportunity to thank all those concerned for affording the learners and the department the opportunity to get to where it is. “Thank you to Mr Moses, Ms Hurrichand, the Curro Create Team here and at Head Office, our parents and of course our amazing learners who always rise to all challenges with aplomb.” St Dominics Newcastle wishes the girls and accompanying educators safe travels and an enjoyable learning experience. “The Culture Department has been and will continue to grow from strength to strength!” concluded Mrs Dhewlall.
