The Camps Bay High School Interact Society, a group committed to community service and positive engagement, embraced its philanthropic spirit by orchestrating an unforgettable outing to the Two Oceans Aquarium, for children from the iKhaya Le Themba Project.

iKhaya Le Themba, a beacon of hope situated in Imizamo Yethu in Hout Bay, provides after-school care and education to the less fortunate members of the community. Their mission centres on nurturing children with essential nutrition, empowering education, and a supportive environment akin to family. The vision of iKhaya Le Themba extends to empowering each child with tangible hope for the future, equipping them with practical skills, and fostering a sense of belonging.

The Two Oceans Aquarium, renowned for its dedication to marine conservation and education, opened its doors to the iKhaya Le Themba children for a day of wonder and exploration. From the vibrant displays of marine life to the mesmerising underwater tunnels, the aquarium served as an awe-inspiring backdrop for a day of learning and joy. The children from iKhaya Le Themba all received a snack pack full of treats to enjoy.

Ms. Kirsten Mobsby, Head of Service and Teacher-in-Charge of Interact at Camps Bay High School, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “This outing is a testament to the enduring partnership between Camps Bay High School and iKhaya Le Themba. Witnessing the joy on the children’s faces as they explored the wonders of the aquarium reaffirmed the value of community engagement. At Camps Bay High School, we hold the belief that enriching our society is as pivotal as academic pursuits. This experience allows our learners to realise the profound fulfilment that accompanies acts of giving.”

Added Mobsby, “Smiles, laughter, and a shared sense of wonder filled the air, illuminating the hearts of all involved. The event stands as a testament to the enduring impact of collaboration between Camps Bay High School and community organisations.”

Camps Bay High School remains dedicated to promoting the transformative potential of benevolence, continually fostering within its learners a deep understanding of empathy, responsibility, and comprehensive personal growth. The partnership with iKhaya Le Themba and the immersive experience at the Two Oceans Aquarium stand as beacons of unity, forging a brighter path for all involved.
