Yesterday, Banyana Ba Gwijo had the thrilling opportunity to be interviewed on Jacaranda FM! Along with Vocal Coach, Ms Senzy Khumalo, the students proudly flew the Volkie flag high and sounded amazing live on air. As Banyana Ba Gwijo was interviewed by the renounced radio personality, Thabiso Khambule, our Volkies’ joyful energy reverberated throughout the radio waves, leaving all who listened inspired by their talent and positivity. As a testament to our Hoërskool Volksrust’ impact, Khambule exclaimed, “One interview I’ll cherish for the rest of my radio career and life… waaaaaaw!”.

The choir performed two of their songs, including their renowned ‘Bana ba strata’, which showcased their impressive vocal range and harmonies. Khambule was impressed by their talent and enthusiasm and had a great time chatting with them about their love of music.

This experience was a fantastic confidence booster for the students, and we are so proud of each and every one of them. We are grateful to Jacaranda FM and the SA Music Show host, Thabiso Khambule for having us. We want to extend special thanks to our Choir Director, Mrs Marietjie Steyn, for marketing Banyana Ba Gwijo and for going above and beyond to arrange such a memorable interview for the girls +1 boy. We also thank Ms Sanelisiwe Kunene for consistently supporting the choir and even accompanying them on this memorable trip. We would also like to thank Mr Manqoba Mavuso for ensuring a safe trip for our learners and teachers throughout this journey.
