Volksrust High School Netball made an incredible impact at the Amajuba Sports Weeks, showcasing both skill and spirit across the junior and senior netball events. Our players had the privilege of being coached by nationally ranked netball stars from the Future Goals Academy, who brought elite-level experience and passion to the courts. Their guidance helped sharpen our players’ techniques, strategies, and overall gameplay, leaving a lasting impression on our teams.

In addition to the on-court action, several of our dedicated staff took part in a netball umpiring course. We are proud to announce that Elanie Boshoff, Anja Krause, and Elana Dippenaar achieved their Level 2 umpiring certification, while Lorianne Magudulela earned her Level 1 grading—a fantastic step forward for netball development at Volksrust High School. Over the course of both weeks, seven Volksrust players were named ‘Player of the Match’, a true testament to their determination and growth:

  • U14: Gugu Vilakazi & Anothile Nxumalo
  • U15: Sibonga Mkhaliphi & Anele Mothopeng
  • U16: Rofhiwa Mawela
  • U18: Vuyiswa Nxcele & Oratile Thobejane

Our teams didn’t just play hard—they excelled. The U14 team won the “Most Improved Team” trophy during junior week, while our U16 team claimed the same award during the senior week. These accolades highlight the incredible progress our squads have made thanks to their commitment and coaching. We’re also beyond excited to announce that two of our top players have been selected to travel to Singapore for a prestigious netball tour with Blue Runnings International:

  • Yolanda Nene (U16)
  • Vuyiswa Nxele (U18)

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and a proud moment for our school! Match Highlights:

U18: Volksrust 19 – St Catherine’s 1
U18: Volksrust 24 – Overvaal 8
U14: Volksrust 4 – Newcastle 4 (Draw)
U15: Volksrust 15 – Curro Secondary 4

We are incredibly proud of every player, coach, and staff member who contributed to our netball journey during the Amajuba Sports Weeks. The passion, sportsmanship, and growth displayed reflect the very best of Volksrust High School. Here’s to even more victories—on and off the court!
