St Teresa’s Senior Primary School in Rosebank ended the term with their major production Cinder-ABBA. The production allowed each of our Rosies from Grade 4 to Grade 7 to have a chance to perform on stage, with the Grade 7 learners taking on the lead roles. This unique version of Cinderella, carefully chosen to reflect the spirit of unity, cooperation, and determination that our Rosies embodied throughout the journey of getting the production onto the stage, captured the hearts and emotions of the audience. The story is about a young girl, Cinderella, who does not stick up or believe in herself and is challenged by a fairy godmother sangoma to believe in herself. Magical spells go awry, chaos ensues and Cinderella is compelled to take her future into her own hands all to the dazzling songs of ABBA, played through the airwaves of the kingdom by two radio DJs.
Our Senior Primary Rosies were given ownership over the creation of their costumes, sets and props with their knowledge of cutting fabric, sewing costumes, painting sets, acting and dancing increasing dramatically and adding to the excitement and the specialness of our the production. They embraced challenges, discovered their strengths, and supported one another to bring the message of “I can” to the audience. We are so proud of each of them and to our community of educators and parents for the part they played in making this production such a success.
