St Dominics Newcastle learners conquer the 2026 Midmar Mile

Two St Dominics Newcastle learners recently demonstrated exceptional courage and endurance at the prestigious Midmar Mile 2026, successfully completing one of the country’s most renowned open-water swimming events.
Head Girl, Zoe Kruger described the experience as “such a fun and memorable experience, filled with sunshine and the opportunity to meet new people from all over the country.”Her words capture not only the excitement of the event, but also the spirit of camaraderie that defines the Midmar Mile.

Zoe Kruger and Abigale Meineke both rose to the challenge of navigating the open waters, demonstrating resilience, determination, and mental strength from start to finish.Competing in choppy conditions and against swimmers from across South Africa, the two learners proudly crossed the finish line with the following official times:• Abigale – 23:07
• Zoe – 33:24.
