Love at first Flight for Blouberg International School learner
Ben Cimbalanga is a gr. 10 learner at Blouberg International School. He has been wanting to become a pilot for as long as he can remember.
“It all started the first time I got on a plane when I was 5 years old, it was like love at first sight (flight). My mom still says that I didn’t want to leave the plane on that day,” shares Ben. “Falling in love with aviation is the best thing that happened in my life and every year I put pressure on my parents to take me on a plane. It doesn’t matter where all I want to do is get on a plane. Every time I am on the aircraft, especially the Boeing 747 (flown on twice), I never want to leave.”
It wasn’t until recently that he heard about Cape Town Flying Club. He had to wait for some time before he was eligible to apply. He now has the opportunity to start pilot training.
Ben added, “All I want to do now is get through the week so I can go flight training on the weekends. I am slowly falling in love with the Cessna 175 that I use at the club. I can’t wait until the day I can fly solo without my instructor.”
He aspires to attain his PPL (Private Pilots License) in the future.
