SACS learner showed outstanding results at the SA Lifesaving Champs
In the holidays, Uli Hart went to SA Lifesaving Champs in Port Elizabeth held over 3 days. – He won Gold in U19 single ski, U19 double ski and the U19 ski relay. He also won bronze in the Open men single ski and Open men ski relay. Fish Hoek club won the surf competition overall, for the 10th year running.
From this event, Uli was picked for the WP team to compete in the Inter-provincials on Saturday in Clifton. Again he and his WP team won in Jnr single ski, Jnr Taplan relay, Jnr ski relay & Jnr tube rescue. On the canoeing front, Uli also went to the SA School canoe sprints and SA canoe sprint trials in East London in the school holidays, the week before the above, also run over 3 days.
Of the 8 possible podiums in U18 sprint finals in singles and doubles, Uli won gold in 5 and silver in 2, so he was also the overall U18 Victor Ludorum. Uli is now preparing for SA surf ski trials at the end of April, he wants to make the SA side to the world surf ski champs in France in August. After these trials, he says he is focusing on the SA canoe marathon champs because he also wants to make the SA side to the World canoe marathon champs in China in October
In both cases, the SA selectors only select 2 Juniors. He broke away from the rest of the pack at the start and kept going. Well done Uli. SACS is very proud of what you have achieved
