A Hive of Activity at Groote Schuur High School
The school campus has been buzzing with activity in the first half of term 1. Interhouse competitions got underway with the athletics event run over two days. On Saturday, 3 February, parents and athletes alike were treated to the house entrance processions. Each house chose a theme which the cheerleaders depicted with great creativity and flair. This set the tone for team rivalry, but also created a great sense of excitement which sustained the athletes throughout the day.
On 23 February, the annual Open Day saw in excess of 900 parents and grade 7s participate in the programme. After being addressed in the hall, Grade 7s were shown around by prefects and grade representatives, while parent groups were lead by staff members. The two tour slots allowed visitors to get a sense of life on the GSHS campus, and tour stops included a Science practical, band practice, swim team training and cabaret rehearsals. While applications were available on the day, the majority of apps are being done online in time for the closing date of 23 March.
