Swellendam High School swim the open waters On the 11^th of March 2023, the Swellendam High School swim team took part in the Bridgehouse open water swim event in Franschhoek.  Lizzy Franken and Lize Vos swam the 800 meter event in the Youth women 15 -16 category and Tanica van Zyl in the sub junior girls 13 -14. Lizzy Franken placed first in her category and ninth overall with a time of 00:17:03. Lize Vos placed second in her category and twenty third overall with a time of 00:18:50. Tanica van Zyl fifth in her category and thirthy sixth overall with a time of 00:20:46.

Annabelle le Grange and Mieke Schoeman swam the well-known Bridgehouse mile (1609 meters) in the Junior Woman 17-18 category and Jana Schoeman in the sub junior girls 13 -14.  Mieke Schoeman placed eight in her category and 107^th overall with a time of 00:37:37. Jana Schoeman placed thirteenth in her category and 113^th overall with a time of 00:38:00. Annabelle le Grange placed tenth in her category and 121^st overall with a time of 00:38:22.
