Somerset West Primary Rugby clinic with Stormers players
On Saturday, 9 March 2019, the under 7 to under 13 rugby teams from Somerset West Primary School received a welcome surprise when two well-known rugby players arrived at their training session. Former Metho Squirrels learner and Springbok flyhalf, Damian Willemse, and Junior Springbok No 8 and former Summie learner, Juarno Augustus, took time off their busy schedule to show the boys why they are two of the best rugby players in the country.
As a former Summie learner, Juarno Augustus played many matches at Allers Park, the A-field named after former Summie deputy principal, Johan Allers. As a learner from the neighbouring Methodist Primary School, Damian Willemse also played many matches at Allers Park. Both players are currently part of the Stormers rugby team that is playing in the Super Rugby competition.
They were joined by another former Summie, Aneesha Adams, who are involved in the Rugby Tots Academy. Two coaches from the Western Province Rugby Institute were also present to lend a hand. The training session was organised by Mr Dean Williams, sports coordinator from Somerset West Primary School.
