Cape Schools Cricket week captains interview: Paarl Boys’ High
The annual Cape Schools Cricket Week is taking place at Union High School in Graaff Reinet and AWSUM caught up with some of the first team cricket captains.
Below is the interview with Michael Papenfus from Paarl Boys’ High School:
Following the recent Cricket World Cup, who was your player of the tournament and why? It is going to have to be Rohit Sharma from India, the way he played and assisted Virat Kohli was just exceptional and stood out for me.
Do you see yourself as a bowler, batsman or an all-rounder? All-rounder
If you could invite any Protea player for a braai, who would it be and why? He is not playing currently, but I would invite AB de Villiers. His knowledge of the game is just extraordinary, and I have just always looked up to him.
Who is currently the best captain in world cricket? Virat Kohli.
If you had to choose 3 players to add to your team but they have to include a Protea bowler, a Protea batsman and a Springbok rugby player – who would they be and why?
1) I would choose Imran Tahir. His passion for the game is just remarkable and he always gives his best; he is also one of the world’s best leg-spinners.
2) I would choose Quinton de Kock. He is a great batsman and he has some X factor about him. He has the ability to change the game at any point and can do some real damage at the top of the order.
3) I would choose Bongi Mbonambi. He has an unreal passion for sport and is an absolute team player.
