The Second Round of the Old Mutual SA Mathematics Olympiad was written in May. Our St Charles College boys did exceptionally well in this round. There were 17 boys placed in the top 100 in the province.
Divaar Pillay in Grade 10, Cameron Beesley, Sanjay Tallapaneni, Sebastien le Roux, Nicholas Oldfield and Nathan Raubenheimer in Grade 11, and Nikhil Gongal in Grade 12 were placed in the top 100 seniors in the province. Matthew Hardman, Daniel Gurney and Troy Godley in Grade 9, and James Isaac, Daniel Morkel, Yisun NG-Yang, Kaden Govindasamy, Vaughn Crabtree, Tumelo Dube and Prezlin Govender in Grade 8, were placed in the top 100 juniors in the province.
In addition, James Isaac had a rating of ‘excellent’, and he was placed in the top 100 nationally. He excelled even further by qualifying to participate in the third round, which was written in July. We would like to congratulate all the boys on their extraordinary achievement. – Mrs Charlotte Pillay Head of Mathematics
