To reward the top achieving grade 12 learners for their academic excellence, a congratulatory ceremony was held last week at the Orkney Community Hall, in the North West Province. These matriculants, from schools across the Maquassi Hills and Matlosana municipalities, are the second group in as many years to be awarded certificates and laptop equipment, in recognition of their outstanding academic results.

“It feels great to know that the hard work and dedication I had put in over the year did not go unnoticed. I am very grateful to have received this award and laptop, as it serves as motivation to push through the 2022 academic year,” Azrah Ebrahim, a pupil from Hoerskool Wolmaranstadt. Funded by Bokamoso Solar, the event is in partnership with the Department of Education for Maquassi Hills and Matlosana Municipalities. It forms part of the solar project’s Economic Development Programme, which aims to stimulate and honour academic achievements of Matriculants, in schools across the area.

“We award these prizes to reward learners who have excelled in their studies, to boost morale in the community, and to encourage learners to strive for excellence and to pursue their studies further at tertiary institutions. These awards serve as a demonstration to community members that success is possible through hard work,” said Celiwe Mabaso, Community Operations Manager for Bokamoso Solar.

This ongoing support service by Bokamoso Solar benefits 16 schools across the area, which include Boskuil Combined, Gatelapele Secondary, Leruntse Lesedi Secondary, Maitemogelo Secondary, Ntlatseng Combined School, North-Wwest School for the Deaf, Reabona Secondary, Tiragalo Secondary, Hoerskool Wolmaranstadt, Thuto Tsebo Secondary, Matlhaleng Secondary, Hoerskool Orkney, Tshebedisano Secondary, Kanana Secondary, and Mmokeng Secondary and Vaal Reefs Technical High School.
