On the 10^th of January 2022, Volksrust High school hosted a RCL and EC leadership developing day with a lot of fun, games and activities. Although the learners were exhausted after a packed day of learning and having fun, we, as teachers, could see the enthusiasm and development throughout the day of our future leaders.

What the learners learnt during the camp is that they don’t all approach difficult problems the same way but the camp gave them guidance and the tools to focus on the solution. Our main goal for the camp was to make our leaders self-aware and to prioritise their personal growth and development, to focus on developing other learners and encourage strategic thinking. We also wanted to teach them that communication is key but listening to each other is more important.

Volksrust High school provides direction and guidance. We teach our learners courage, passion, loyalty commitment and confidence. We focus on their strengths so that they can develop their talents from Gr.8-12. At VHS we want our learners to go into the world being strong leaders who make a difference.

With all the learning there was still time to have fun and play educational games where we focused on certain leadership characteristics. We ended the night with an award ceremony. The leaders of the day: Gr 9 Aphiwe Mkwanazi, Gr 10 Francois de Jager, Gr 11 Prince Kusi, Gr 12 NT Moolman
