Wembley College promote e-learning, create online school
Covid19 has transformed our world. We have been presented with challenges we never thought we would have to face. Who would have believed our children would not be able to attend school? Schools are having to embrace this change by finding new ways for scholars to learn.
At Wembley College, we have adapted to the change by becoming an online learning centre, allowing scholars to continue learning from the safety of their homes. It has been through the amazing efforts of a few teachers that this has been able to happen. The Headmaster, Mr Swart and vice Headmistress, Mrs van der Walt have encouraged and supported the IT team, tasked with training teachers to learn the relevant skills in order to create an online school.
For many years, Wembley has offered ICT (Information, Communication and Technology). Our ICT teacher, Mr Wolmarans with many years of IT experience, spearheaded the training needed for all the teachers to begin their online classes. Mr Wolmarans implemented teacher training workshops across the school. Teachers who in the past were fearful of technology, are now implementing amazing online lessons. Our small school in the country is now a centre of technology.
This week our school opens its door to boarders who will return to a different school. A school which has taken extreme measures to create a safe environment for everyone. The day scholars return in two phases being given two to three hours of learning in the classroom. We continue with our online learning for parents who do not want their children to return to school at this stage.
Our teachers have done a brilliant job of creating online classes for our scholars. We wish them well as they bravely continue to education our Wembley children during Covid19.
