Howick High School celebrates Arbour Day
On Friday, 13 September 2019 Howick High School celebrated Arbour Day as part of the school’s well established tree planting tradition.
Learners were reminded about KZN’s astounding green heritage, which includes more than 750 different tree species and more than 4000 types of wild flowers.
Learners representing Grades 8 to 11 then ceremonially planted a Forest Elder tree in a new stand of trees that are commonly found in the Midlands.
In the future, Howick High School plans to gradually plant hundreds of locally indigenous trees as part of a waterwise habitat creation and carbon banking project.
