Dundee High School welcomes new staff
We would like to welcome the following staff members at DHS. We hope that they will enjoy their moments of teaching with us and that they share their unique talents with learners and staff. Mrs Layton is currently completing her final year of her Bachelor of Education. She is originally from a small town called Hunsborn in Germany but she has been living in South Africa since 2019. She will be teaching Social Sciences, Creative Arts and Life Orientation. She is passionate about teaching and ever since she was very young, her mother told her that she would be a teacher one day. Teaching gives her an opportunity to have a small impact on learners, helping them become the best versions of themselves. She believes that teaching is not just about academics but also about helping learners find their voice. She came to Dundee High School as a Rotary exchange student in 2014. Now she is back in a teaching position.
Mrs Ellis has a B.Ed Snr and VOO Languages and Economics. She is from Kroonstad and taught at Bloues for six years. Juffrou Ellis gaan ons nuwe Afrikaanse Huistaal juffrou wees. Haar hart is in onderwys en sy glo dat mens kinders op ‘n positiewe manier in ‘n klaskamer kan beïnvloed. Essentially, she can be the positive influence in their lives. She can inspire and help learners build self-esteem and make them believe in themselves no matter their background or abilities. She loves travelling, reading and artwork. Most of her artwork consists of Dundee scenery.
Miss Shanahan is in the final stages of receiving her B.Ed in intermediate and senior phase. She is born and bred in Dundee and will be teaching Tourism, English FAL and Arts and Culture. She loves teaching because she wanted a career where she could help people. There is nothing like the pleasure of being a part of another individual’s growth process.

DHS would like to welcome the following new staff members Mrs Ellis, Miss Shanahan, Mrs Leyton and Mrs Visser
Mrs Visser is qualified to teach languages and Mathematics. She has a heart of gold and can always be counted on to help when needed. She believes in having a positive mindset to achieve one’s goals and she is a strong believer in the strength of developing a growth mindset in learners. She has a passion for teaching and in the process, developing young minds.
It is clear to see that these ladies will fit into the DHS family without much effort. We wish them many successful years of education at our establishment and we hope that they will find their feet without much effort.
We would also like to congratulate Miss Sewmangal who got married on the 18 December 2021. She got married to Jeethan Rambarath and Mrs Keshena Rambarath will relocate to Durban as soon as she secures a teaching position there. We would like to wish them many years of happiness together.

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Rambarath on their wedding recently
