We are thrilled to announce Mr William Silk has been appointed as Deputy Head of Wembley College, Head of High School and Head of Boarding. We welcome William, his lovely wife Lisel and their sons Michael and Christopher. William obtained his Masters in Music at the University of KZN, majoring in Choral and Orchestral Conducting. He was the Head of Music at Ferrum High School and taught music from Grade 8 to 12: practical voice, electric guitar, drums, piano, trumpet and the school brass band. He also coached hockey. He is a keen pilot and has built his own aeroplane which he will hangar at the Plennegy Aviation Hub. William is currently Senior Master of Co-Curricular at Michaelhouse ensuring that all Art, Drama, Cultural Ensembles, Clubs and Societies are active and run to a high standard. The co-curricular activities at Wembley College will be his focus. He was the Director of the Northern KZN Youth Choir and is currently the Director of the KZN Midlands Youth Choir. William will continue in this role at the choir where several of our Wembley College choristers have been members of this very successful choir. The Silks bring with them a skill set that will complement our College and the Umvoti community. We welcome this talented family and wish them much happiness in the Greytown community.
We are happy to announce that Mrs Julie Goble has been appointed to the position of Head of Pre-primary and Junior Primary phases from 2022. The Pre-primary and Junior Primary phases will be integrated into a Wembley Junior School. Julie has 4-year diploma in the foundation phase teaching, majoring in English and Zulu. Julie began her teaching career at Greytown Junior School, teaching Grade 1 to 3 for 11 years. In 1997, she was recruited by Wembley College and was one of our founder teachers. When our doors opened, she was the Grade 1 teacher and remained in that position until 2012. Julie has also been the Head of Department for the Foundation Phase for 16 years. In 2013, she took over the Grade 3 class. Julie’s 3 sons all attended Wembley College for their entire schooling career. She believes strongly in the Wembley College product and specifically in the Cambridge system which teaches young people how to think and have informed opinions. The Board of Wembley College is very excited about our new Leadership Team for 2022. Wembley will continue to teach, nurture and inspire.
