Esports is rapidly gaining traction in schools, and students from Crawford International recently put their skills to the test at the Minecraft Stallion’s Cup. The event brought together young gamers from across the region, showcasing not just their technical abilities but also their strategic thinking and teamwork.
Callum Chelin, Zilungile Mcilongo, Ronin Botha, and Kamva Swana represented Crawford International, delivering a commendable performance. The team secured fifth place in the time trials, competing against some of the strongest players in the tournament. While the competition was intense, their resilience and ability to adapt to challenges stood out.
Beyond the rankings, the students gained valuable experience by immersing themselves in the broader esports community. They stayed to observe and support fellow competitors, demonstrating sportsmanship and a willingness to learn from others, qualities that are becoming just as important as in-game skill.
“The event was more than just a test of gameplay; it was an opportunity to develop teamwork, perseverance, and strategic thinking. Their performance and attitude made an impression, and the school takes pride in their achievements,” shares Tia Swanepoel, eSports Teacher from Crawford International.
