Greyton House now offering singing classes for the students
Greyton House is very happy to inform our parents that we will be offering singing classes for the pupils from Grade R to 7 once a week. Mrs Trish Grobler will be teaching class music and we hope this will give our children opportunities to express their musical talents, learn more about the wonderful world of music and to just enjoy singing together.
“I am a passionate musician and chose piano as my instrument which I love but would have preferred the violin. I have been teaching class music/singing/recorder for 45 years and have directed countless carol services and been the pianist for countless school concerts and various functions.
Music Appreciation is also an important component where all kinds of music genre are discussed with some history included. I have entered many children successfully in Eistedfodds and have included all the various percussion instruments as well.
I have a daughter Nicola in Franschhoek who has a BMus and BEd and a very musical daughter Michelle, who lives in Austria.
I have just moved to Greyton last month with my partner Patrick and we live at the Country Village at Greyton Mews. We love the atmosphere of this beautiful town and have already met friendly, kind, interesting and intellectual members of the community. We have been living and working at Yellowwoods, a country private school near Fort Beaufort in rural Eastern Cape for 12 years and before that in Kimberley.
Teaching has been my life and I also enjoy English-Mathematics and Social Studios in the Intermediate and Senior Phases. I believe that music is the basis of all learning and allows children to develop aesthetic skills, problem-solving as well as being closely connected to mathematics and an authentic love for the Arts.
I look forward to being associated with Greyton House as I am very impressed with the school’s approach to learning and the ethos that supports the meaningful slogan “A Childhood to Remember”
