De La Salle Holy Cross College is one of a handful of schools in South Africa that offer Sport and Exercise Science at a senior high level. It is taught by Mrs Akira Maharaj and Miss Bianca Hannweg. The subject looks at nutrition, muscle and skeletal identification; development and function, sport injury and recovery and the psychology behind training, development of the body and recovery.

Sport and Exercise Science is more of a science subject than a sports subject. It requires hard work and a good study ethic to do well in the subject. The College is fortunate enough to engage with a network of other Sport and Exercise Science teachers that exchange ideas and share expertise on the subject.
