WATCH: Christ Church Preparatory School and College Grade 9 Shadow Puppets
The Grade 9 Drama pupils at Christ Church College have been working on shadow puppet videos. Shadow play, also known as shadow puppetry, is an ancient form of storytelling and entertainment which uses flat articulated cut-out figures (shadow puppets) which are held between a source of light and a translucent screen. The cut-out shapes of the puppets sometimes include translucent colour or other types of detailing. Various effects can be achieved by moving both the puppets and the light source. A talented puppeteer can make the figures appear to walk, dance, fight, nod and laugh.
The Christ Church Preparatory School and College Drama department would like to share two of these plays. The first one is beautifully produced by Jo Museva and Odumisayo Mazibuko in Grade 9C, and the second play is produced by Anotida Musvosve in Grade 9C. Well done to our puppeteers, and their teacher, Ms Da Cruz, for putting together these wonderful plays.
