Over the Easter weekend, Crawford International students from the Fourways, Ruimsig and Pretoria campuses took part in the Rand Show esports tournament, held at the Nasrec Expo Centre. Running from Thursday to Monday, the event featured popular titles such as Minecraft and Fortnite, attracting competitive student teams and an excited crowd of spectators.
Crawford International’s presence was felt across both games. In Minecraft, students from the Pretoria, Ruimsig and Fourways campuses represented the school, engaging in creative and collaborative gameplay. In Fortnite, Ruimsig delivered a standout performance, winning on both Friday and Saturday, a clear reflection of the team’s preparation, focus and determination. “The atmosphere was fantastic,” said Boitumelo Nwandula, Admissions Consultant at Crawford International. “It was exciting to see our students taking part in something that genuinely interests them, while also applying the kinds of skills that will serve them well in future academic and career settings.”
Crawford International’s participation highlights the growing significance of esports in modern education. For the school, events like this are not simply recreational, they are part of a broader approach to equipping students for an evolving world. “Our students put in the time, the strategy and the dedication. What we do as a school is give them the platform and encouragement to take that further,” said Unathi Bonga, Public Relations Consultant at Crawford International. “It is not just about playing games, it is about building focus, resilience and the confidence to step into the future on their own terms.” As technology and education continue to intersect in meaningful ways, Crawford International remains committed to offering opportunities that are relevant, purposeful and aligned with the future its students are preparing to lead.
