Holy Family College welcomes Professional Soccer Player
Holy Family College learners were excited to welcome Professional Soccer Player, Kyle Davies, to the Primary School Sports Day.
Kyle had always dreamt of playing professional football. His professional soccer career started at the age of 24 when he was signed by Orlando Pirates Football Club in 2014. Orlando Pirates Football Club is a Professional Football Club in South Africa, based in the Houghton suburb of Johannesburg, and plays in the top-tier system of South African football known as the Premier Soccer League. Kyle was then loaned to Royal Eagles Football Club, playing in the league below the Top Flight League. The Royal Eagles Football Club is still a professional league in SA (now called the Glad Africa Championship).
Kyle says he encountered many obstacles in the next year or two, however, he says, “With the grace of God, hard work and persistence, I returned to professional football when I was signed by Shaun Bartlett at The University of Pretoria Football Club (Amatuks)”.
Kyle finally returned to Durban where he is currently playing for Real Kings Football Club in the Glad Africa Championship. This is his third season with them and he is Captain of the team.
Kyle shares some motivation with Holy Family College learners. “My advice to any child who wants to achieve their dream is to put God at the centre of everything they do. If your faith is in Jesus Christ, then nothing is impossible. There were many instances where I felt like giving up because things were not working out, but He brought me through it and is the reason I am where I am. The best part is I know He is not done with me.”
Holy Family College Staff and Learners wish Kyle every success for the future.
