Pearson HS Athletes dominated at the PEHSAA Madiba’s Athletics Championships

Pearson High School Athletes took part last weekend in the PEHSAA Madiba’s Athletics Championships, and Pearson dominated many of the sprints and field events with the long distances not far behind. Obtaining 25 Gold, 21 Silver and 14 Bronze medals. A total of 51 Pearson athletes qualified for Metros next weekend in various events. The top athletes who obtained more than 1 Gold medal performances include:
- Mira Esterhuysen in the 800m and 1500m Girls U17,
- Keira van Heerden in the 200m and 400m Girls U16,
- Esethu Mtwa in the Discus Throw and Javelin Throw Girls U15,
- Chante Strydom in the 100m and Long Jump Girls U14
- Mia Vermaak in the Triple Jump, Long Jump and 100m Girls U16.
Kieran Frösler obtained the 19th best performance by all male athletes for his 400m Boys U16. Robert Harris broke the Javelin Record for the boys u1/6: 52.74meters. Izaan Lamprecht obtained three gold medals in the 100m, 200m and 300mHurdles for Girls u/15 and achieved top 20 overall performances of all female athletes in each event at this meeting with her 300m Hurdles at 11th position, earning her 835 points on the ASA Table.
Mia Vermaak, Elné Reynolds and Chelsea Street were also part of the top 20 performances of all female athletes.
Keira van Heerden was our best female athlete of the day with her performance in the 400m Girls u/16 obtaining the 4th best performance of all females, earning her 867 ASA Points.
