Lady Grey Arts Academy received a visit from a life coach
On Monday 13 July 2020, the Lady Grey Arts Academy, received a surprise visit from Marizaan Jordaan (hereafter MJ), a life coach from Worcester, Western Cape.
The 2020 academic year has been difficult for all learners and teachers across South Africa. MJ, therefore, wanted to encourage and motivate the current grade, twelve learners, not to throw in the towel.
The tool used to encourage the learners is called SMART-goals. The word is used as an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Action-orientated, Realistic and Time-bound. This tool can be used for small goals or bigger goals, like finishing grade twelve as well.
After explaining and giving examples for each category, there was time left for questions. The learners, looking ahead with face masks and hand sanitizer at hand, had interesting questions and comments.
Life coach MJ recognised the efforts and special arrangements put in place to proceed with the curriculum, even under difficult circumstances.
The visit was well received by the learners and teachers. MJ is sure the 2020 grade twelve learners from Lady Grey Arts Academy, will be a group mentioned for years ahead! In a few minutes, she could identify unique personalities, spunk, persistence and eyes with a spark of hope left.
