Lilyfontein Junior Cricket on the up
Lilyfontein Junior Cricket on the up.
2019 has been a remarkable year for the cricketers in Primary school. The u11 team started the season by losing all eight games in the first term. The team came back and turned their year around, displaying resilience and excellence by winning all ten of their games in the 4th term, even with them losing ten tosses back to back. The boys have shown great maturity in working on their individual games, this is credited to coach Ross Du Preez who is passionate about cricket and his strategy was to focus on each players strength. The turn-around started with a successful tour to Knysna during the October school holidays, where they won all 3 of their matches. The u11 team have had some great victories against Gonubie Primary by 100 runs, George Randell Primary by 10 wickets, Cambridge Primary by 6 wickets, Queens Junior by 6 wickets, Sakhile Primary by 8 wickets, Selborne B by 9 wickets and Hudson Park Primary by 34 runs. Lilyfontein School is very proud of this young team and their turn-around this season.
Lilyfontein School would like to congratulate Chad Henderson on a remarkable season where he broke the u13 Lilyfontein batting record by more than double runs scored. Amassing a total of 1179 off 954 balls in 25 innings at an average of 62 at a strike rate of 123. Chad has scored more than double of his teams runs this year, batting under immense pressure. This has culminated in first-time victories for the u13A team against Dale Junior where he scored 89 runs off 49 balls chasing a score of 148; 77 not out vs Hudson Park where he shared in a 154-run partnership with Aidan Tidbury who scored 62 not out chasing a score of 160 for victory in 18 overs. Lilyfontein is very proud of Chad’s achievements and we are excited to see him prosper as he moves into the High School next year.
