The Reddam House Durbanville U9 Chess Team has enjoyed a season to remember, ending as Western Cape Top Schools Champions after a flawless provincial campaign. The journey began in the league rounds, where the team secured 2nd place to qualify for the District Top Schools event. There, they rose to the challenge, tying for 1st place and defeating a strong Gene Louw side in the final, an opponent they had previously drawn against twice.
That victory earned them a spot at the prestigious Western Cape Top Schools Championship, where the team saved their very best for last. Playing six rounds against some of the province’s most established chess schools, Reddam was unstoppable. They won every round and posted an exceptional score of 33 out of 36 points.
Their unbeaten run crowned them the official U9 Western Cape Chess Champions, a remarkable achievement that reflects not only their talent but also their resilience, discipline, and teamwork.
