Michaelhouse Speech Day

On Friday, 14 October, Michaelhouse held their annual Speech Day. The guest speaker for the occasion was a Michaelhouse Old Boy, Andrew Robertson, who is President and CEO of BBDO – the world’s largest advertising agency network. Andrew presented the awards to the boys that were prize winners.

Gqamile Mbuyazi (Clifton Preparatory Nottingham Road) was awarded the Collins Prize for All Round Musicianship.

Carlyle Hawkins (St Andrew’s Primary, Bloemfontein) received the Chick Henderson Award, for good academic and sporting potential, involvement in service to the Michaelhouse community and a high level of comradeship which is demonstrated by respect amongst his peers.

Duncan Davies-Webb (Uplands) was the worthy recipient of the Des Sacco Award. This award recognises a matric boy that has been voted by his peers to have shown excellent sportsmanship and concern for others in teams or sports and is considered by them to be the best all-round sportsman.

Alexander Brits (Drakensberg Boys Choir) was the Dux for 2021. He visited Michaelhouse to be formally presented with the Anthony Evans Dux Trophy.
