The past week saw Maritzburg College compete in soccer, cycling, debating, golf and tennis, producing very good results.

Soccer On Saturday 32 football teams took to the fields of College for a rivalry between two of the country’s highest ranked teams – Maritzburg College vs Westville.

1st team match report (Nic Haswell – Director of Soccer) The first half was an intense battle with both teams creating few clear chances at goal. Philasande Khuzwayo broke the deadlock for the hosts shortly before the break, driving the ball into the bottom corner.
In the second half College spurned a number of opportunities and the visitors were able to equalise through an unfortunate own goal by one of College’s defenders. Just as it looked as though the hosts would be made to regret their missed chances, Nzolo Ngcemu
came off the bench to score with his first touch of the ball, giving the home team a 2-1 victory.
