Dr. Brown’s Expands Footprint in South Africa

March 2026 Global healthcare and hair innovation company Dr. Brown’s Group of Companies (DBG) officially launched its South African operations this March, following two flagship launch events held in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Founded by award-winning physician Dr. Kyjuan H. Brown also known through his African heritage name Kwaku Asante the brand’s expansion introduced a physician-led ecosystem of clinical hair and wellness solutions, accredited education, AI-powered diagnostics, and doctor-formulated products to the South African market.

The launch events brought together industry professionals, entrepreneurs, educators, and potential partners to introduce DBG’s vision of modernising the African hair and wellness sector through science, technology, and structured professional development.

“This expansion was more than a market entry; it represented a commitment to collaboration, education, and innovation within Africa’s growing beauty and healthcare industries,” said Dr. Kyjuan H. Brown. “South Africa offered a powerful gateway for growth on the continent, and we were excited to engage with professionals here to help build sustainable, knowledge-driven businesses.”

Rather than introducing a single product line, the launch marked the establishment of a structured platform designed to elevate professional standards, expand revenue opportunities for salon and clinical professionals, and introduce advanced technology into the hair and wellness industry.

Three Pillars Driving the South African Launch

Dr. Brown’s Institute of Health Sciences
A professional education platform offering certified training in hair science, scalp disorders, and structured consultation systems. The institute equips healthcare providers, trichologists, barbers, stylists, and beauty educators with internationally aligned training and scalable business models.

Dr. B’s Laboratory
A clinically developed product line formulated through dermatological research and more than a decade of patient-tested development. The range supports hair growth, scalp health, immune wellness, digestive health, and skin integrity.

TricoExam®

An advanced AI-powered diagnostic system designed to transform hair and scalp consultations. The technology replaces guesswork with data-driven analysis, helping professionals improve treatment accuracy, client retention, and consultation credibility.

Through its integrated ecosystem of education, technology and clinical products, Dr. Brown’s Group aimed to strengthen South Africa’s beauty and wellness economy. The system was designed to help professionals reduce client loss linked to untreated hair concerns, introduce structured revenue-generating services, integrate AI diagnostics into salon environments, and build scalable, sustainable businesses. During its visit to South Africa, Dr. Brown’s Group of Companies also had the opportunity to engage in broader conversations around economic empowerment. The team met with Mmapaseka Steve Letsike, Deputy Minister of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities in South Africa, during a national dialogue focused on unlocking financial power for women and youth entrepreneurs.

As part of its expansion into South Africa, the Group is contributing through trichology education and clinical training. With fewer than ten trained trichologists serving a population of more than 60 million people, the need for skilled specialists in the field remains significant. Through the Dr. Brown’s Hair Restoration Institute, the organisation is currently training 22 women to become certified trichologists and entrepreneurs, with many more expected to follow. The initiative forms part of a broader vision to empower women, create skilled professionals, and support sustainable entrepreneurial opportunities across South Africa. The launch events also created a platform for networking and exploring partnerships with industry stakeholders, including salons, healthcare professionals, retailers, educators, and distributors.

During the launch, Dr. Kyjuan H. Brown also revealed that Dr. Brown’s clinical hair care product range is expected to become available in South Africa within the next three months, with further announcements and updates to be shared on the brand’s official social media platforms.
