Curro Thatchfield hosts shadow ball rugby seven series. Curro Thatchfield was proud to host the second round of the inaugural Shadow Ball Rugby Sevens series on Saturday, 18 March 2023. Other schools who took part were Dainfern College, SAHETI School, Redhill, Randfontein High, Alma Mater, St Dunstan’s, Cosmo City Panthers and Amberfield College. The different age groups included under-14’s to under-19’s. The games were very competitive and physical, with some brutal defence, but also beautiful running rugby at times. We now look forward to two more rounds as well as the finals that will take place in the second term.

Mr Danie van Schalkwyk, Executive Head of Curro Thatchfield High School said, ‘It was wonderful to host a tournament of this calibre and it is pleasing to see that the “smaller” sporting codes at our school are standing up and showing their worth. Rugby is growing year by year and the boys playing are passionate about their sport. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for rugby at Curro Thatchfield.’
