Tjaart Vorster Tennis Tournament results. Our boys had a decent win against Cradock High school and some narrow losses against very strong opponents. A very young boys’ side ended 5th in their pool of 6 teams and played out for 9/10th position. We, unfortunately, lost to Hoër Landbouskool Oakdale in a very close match ending 14/10.

Our girls played 4 pool matches. We were unbeaten after the pool rounds and finished in the 1st position in our pool. Opponents – Stirling High School, Voortrekker High School, Bethlehem, Hoërskool Sentraal, Bloemfontein and Cradock High School. We then played in the final against Oranje Meisieskool which is the number 1 ranked girls’ tennis team in the country. We gave it our all on the court and fought till the end. Unfortunately, we lost. We came 2nd and walked away as silver medalists.

Special mention – Mia Kotzé was unbeaten in all her matches and only conceded 1 set during the entire tournament. She was also a nominee for the player of the tournament. We can be super proud of our tennis teams; they held our school’s name high. Their behaviour and sportsmanship were complimented on and off the court. We look forward to hosting our very own CR van der Merwe tennis tournament in 2 weeks’ time! Great work, girls, and boys!
