‘In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.’ – Albert Einstein.
Curro Brackenfell decided to do something different this term with their Grade 6 learners. As part of the curriculum, the learners had a theme based on ‘instructions’. The educators didn’t want the learners to only learn the theory about instructions, but to put these instructions into action.
See One – Teach One – Do One.
Mr. Izak Nagel, the Executive Head began the day by teaching the learners how to change a tyre on a car. After break, some of the staff members had the opportunity to teach the learners how to build a fire, braai and make their own boerewors rolls. What a fantastic way to get ready for ‘Braai Day’!
The educators at Curro Brackenfell feel that there are certain ‘life skills’ that learners need to know and that is why they started the ‘DIY day’ at school.
